Ronald Stewart, Jr, age, 60 of Troy, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Troy, Ohio on December 28, 1965, to Ronald A. Stewart, Sr. and Norma J. Whitmore of Troy. Mr. Stewart is preceded in death by his dear mother, the Late Norma J. Whitmore.
During Mr. Stewart’s lifetime, he attended Troy City Schools, Dayton Public Schools and Lima City Schools.
Mr. Stewart’s Christian foundation began as a child who attended Richard’s Chapel United Methodist Church of Troy, Ohio under the pastorate of the late Pastor Rev. Evans L & Lady Porter. He sang with the Richard’s Chapel Youth Choir under the direction of the late Joyce Evans & Family. During the youth choir engagements, “Ronald would sing a solo, of which his voice captivated the audience, and frequently brought many adults to tears.”
As a young person, Ronald enjoyed visiting churches throughout the local community. These included the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, pastored by the late Bishop Donald G. Carnes and Lady Shirley A. Carnes, and Zion Baptist Church, where he especially enjoyed attending the Easter Sunrise Services under the leadership of the late Reverend Paul Perkins and Lady Perkins. More recently, Ronald attended Grace Family Worship Center in Piqua, Ohio, under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Eugene Howard and Pastor Trinia Collier.
Ronald was truly “the life of every party” and never met a stranger. He was transparent, outspoken, and never hesitated to speak his mind. Those who knew and loved Ronald always knew exactly where he stood—Amen!
Ronald also had a tremendous passion for cooking. He loved inviting family and friends to enjoy his meals and frequently prepared plates for numerous people throughout the community. For a period of time, he shared his culinary gifts through the Richards Chapel United Methodist Church Lunch Program, where his cooking attracted people from near and far.
To be honest, “Brother Ronald could definitely throw down, y’all!” His specialties included pig’s feet, chitterlings, greens, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, ribs, chicken, fish, baked beans, and so much more. His generous spirit and memorable meals brought people together and will be deeply missed.
Ronald leaves to cherish his memory his devoted father, Ronald A. Stewart Sr. of Troy, Ohio; his sisters, Andrea Carnes of Memphis, Tennessee, Michelle Webster of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Janelle (Tyrone) Collier Sr. of Troy, Ohio; and his brother, Fredrick (Tiffany) Howery of Cleveland, Ohio.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Orlando Carnes Sr., Ciara (Daniel) Whetsel III, Kylee (Perry) VanZandt, Tyrone Collier Jr., and Gloria Webster II; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Laiyanah Carnes, Orlando Carnes Jr., Jamel Carnes, Tessa VanZandt, and Nora VanZandt; along with a host of cousins, friends, and extended family members throughout the community.
Ronald’s joyful personality, beautiful singing voice, generous heart, delicious cooking, and unforgettable presence will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Richard’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Troy with Pastor Kima Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the church. Private interment will be held at a later date.
