Roy K. Swart, 88, of Troy, went to be with the Lord at 10:21 a.m. on Tuesday, May 06, 2014 at Integrity Adult Home Care in Peoria, Arizona. He was born in Athens County, Ohio on September 25, 1925 to the late Roy E. and Elsie (Mills) Swart. He was married 65 years to Ella Mae Hanning, and she preceded him in death on April 8, 2011.

Roy is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roy K. and Rebecca Swart, Jr. of Casstown; one daughter-in-law and her husband, Mary L. and Robert Straker of Troy; four grandchildren, Ryan K. and Kim Swart of Marysville, Kristina and Jeremy Nash of St. Paris, Bobbie and Sean Bargo of Mt. Orab, Russell Swart of Seiverville, TN;  seven great-grandchildren, Abigail Swart, Emma Swart, Katelyn Nash, Grace Nash, Hailey Nash, Kable Bargo, Allison Bargo; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gilbert and Donna Swart of Scottsdale, AZ, Charles and Wilma Swart of Phoenix, AZ, Russell and Barbara Swart of Sun City, AZ; five sisters, Gladys and Kenneth Grandy of Peoria AZ, Deloris Guthridge, Elsie and Tom Smith of Sun City, AZ, Georgeanna Harrison of Peoria, AZ, and Allie Moore of Peoria, AZ. He was preceded in death by one son, Rev. Dennis Swart; one brother, Gerald Swart and his wife, Dora; and one sister, Dorothy Stomps.

Roy was a member of the Troy First Church of God in Troy. He served on several different Church Boards at Churches of God in Dayton, Hillsboro, and Troy. His quiet, gentle, humble spirit, his strength, integrity, stead fastness and warm smile will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1977 from General Motors after 30 years of service. He remained busy after retirement doing construction jobs, farming, chopping wood and cutting grass. He enjoyed fishing, playing pinochle and miniature golf, listening to gospel music, watching TV game shows, westerns, and the Cincinnati Reds; spending time with his family, reading his Bible and serving the Lord.

His funeral service and celebration of his life on earth and his eternal life in heaven will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Michael Calhoun officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown.
