Shirley Lou Marker, aged 91, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, in her home . Born on August 2, 1934, in Dayton, Ohio. She was the daughter of Pete and Pauline Weiss. Shirley graduated from Troy High School in 1952.
Shirley married her lifelong partner, Phillip Marker, on June 6, 1953, a loving marriage that lasted over 53 years until Phillip's passing. A devoted homemaker, Shirley dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. Her passions included playing bridge, reading, and dining out, but her greatest joy was found in the daily care and love she poured into her home and family.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Troy.
Shirley is survived by her son, Andrew and his wife Renee Marker of Troy; daughter-in-law Stella Marker of California; sister-in-law Kay Weiss of Minnesota; grandsons Aaron and Raymond Marker of California, Joseph Adkins and wife Bekah of Missouri; granddaughter Sarah Alford and her husband David of Franklin, Ohio. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Asher, Brody, and Amelia Alford. Meyer and Marshall Adkins. And also, several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Phillip Marker, son Randy Marker, daughter Christine McClellan, grandson Andrew P. Marker, and brother Bernard Weiss.
In accordance with Shirley's wishes, there will be no services. The family would like to express their gratitude to Day-City Hospice, especially Christa, Mark, Beth, and Zenobia, for their compassionate care during Shirley's final months. Contributions in memory of Shirley can be made to Day-City Hospice, honoring her life and the care she received. The family is being assisted by Fisher Cheney Funeral Home.
