Shirley Eileen Wesco, age 88 of Troy, passed away peacefully at 7:15AM on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was born March 1, 1937 in Brandt to the late David and Hazel Metz.

Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter Jayne Knisley and her great-grandson Sage Denson.

Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory include her husband William “Bill” Wesco, whom she married August 20, 1955; her children Barb Atkinson of Troy, Sandy Wesco of South Daytona, FL, Jim Wesco of Cleves, and Donna Williams (Stevie) of Piqua; adopted son Joe (Linda) Shellhaas; grandchildren Toni Wells (Shawn), Ben Denson (Jolene), Brad Denson, Chris Stager (Nicole), Matt Stager (Breanne), Brian Knisley, Holly Harrington, David Harrington (Casey), Nate Coppock, and Katie Williams, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Shirley was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and loved playing Texas Hold’em. She was a true patriot and was passionate about taking care of our veterans. She volunteered for over 20 years at the VA hospital. She was a member of the Troy AmVets Post 88 Auxiliary and the Troy VFW Post #5436. She was a bartender for over 20 years at the Tipp City VFW. Besides being a stay-at-home wife and mother, Shirley learned to reupholster furniture in her spare time.

A funeral service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation will be from 12:00PM-2:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Casstown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite veteran’s charity. They also ask that you wear Cincinnati Reds apparel to honor Shirley’s love for the team.
