Vashti Worrell Love, age 95 of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Piqua Manor. She was born on October 11, 1930 in Washington DC to the late Arthur Ulyssis Worrell and Alice Estelle (Wright) Worrell.

Along with her parents, Vashti was preceded in death by five brothers: Arthur, Milton, David, Steve, and Raymond, as well as two sisters: Catherine and Yvonne.

Those left to cherish Vashti’s memory include her children: Willie Gilchrist, Sharon Ash (Louis Brooks), Loretta Love-Spence (Michael), and Teresa E. Love; grandchildren Ronald Ash, Kimberly Brooks, Krystina Brooks, Nathaniel Green, Christian Love, Kendric Love, and Kelvin Love; ten great-grandchildren; as well as auntie and best friend Bernice McCants and bestie Delores Robinson.

Vashti was a member of Mt. Jezreel Baptist Church in Washington DC and Skyview Wesleyan in Tipp City, OH. She worked for 35 years as a journey-bindery woman for the Government Printing Office in Washington DC. In her spare time, you would find Vashti watching her western and karate movies, usually with a Hershey bar in hand! She also enjoyed opera and anything lilac. Vashti will be missed by her beloved family, friends, and her companions at home, Bella, Buddy and Pablo.

The family would like to thank Ashley Langston and her family for giving Vashti special love and attention.

Interment will be held at a later date in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
