Obituary

Velma Lee Kinnel, 70, of Piqua, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. She was born in Dundee, MS on April 16, 1944 to the late James Watson McCoy and Christine (Lott) White. She was married to Marvin Kinnel, and he survives.

Velma is also survived by four sons, Gregory McCoy of Minneapolis, MN, Sammy Pearson of Jackson, MI, Danny Pearson of Troy, William White of Piqua; two daughters and son-in-law, Laurie and Earl Smith of Jackson, MI, LaTasha Kinnel of Jackson, MI; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters-in-law, Watson McCoy of Troy, Rev. William and Cindy McCoy of Jacksonville, NC, Rev. Wesley and Jewelettia McCoy of Troy, Rev. Tommy and Lynn McCoy of Ft. Worth, TX, Terry and Amy McCoy of Troy, Keith and Jennifer McCoy of Fuqua Varina, NC, Samuel McCoy of Peeksville, NY, James McCoy, Jr. of Tunica, MS; and four sisters and brothers-in-law, Kelly McCoy of Troy, Debra McCoy of Troy, Gloria and Michael Coyle of Noblesville, IN, and Annie and Murphy Frazier, Sr. of Troy. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Willie C., Johnnie H., James, and Robert McCoy.

She was a member of Agape Ministries and St. Baptist Church in Jackson, MI.

A Home Going Service will be held at 12-Noon on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. Tommy McCoy officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12-Noon on Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy at a later date.
