William Kaiser Thompson, 78, of Troy, passed away 8 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Piqua on July 1, 1935 to the late John J. and Saloma (Kaiser) Thompson.

William is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Julie Thompson of Woodstock, IL, Michael and Kim Thompson of Lorton, VA; four daughters and sons-in-law, Monica and Norm Fortier of Fairfax, VA, Marcia and David Boyce of Louisville, KY, Mary Beth and Nabil Wehbe of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Molly Sinanis of West Bloomfield, MI; three sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Jane Lampe of Boca Raton, FL, Jacqueline Jenkins of Troy, Betty and Frank Scholle of Cincinnati; and eighteen grandchildren.

William was of the Catholic Faith. He was a 1952 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Piqua, and attended University of Dayton for 2 years where he excelled in baseball and football. He was an Army Veteran. He was retired from sales. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching his grandkids play in their various sports activities.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy with Rev. Fr. James Duell officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery with a Military Graveside Service performed by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy. Contributions may be given to the Memorial Foundation of Dayton Veterans Association in his memory.
