Janice Marie Johnson

Loving mother Janice Marie Johnson, age 90 of Troy, passed away 8:50PM Saturday, June 17, 2023 at her residence. She was born July 8, 1932 in Troy to the late Gradual “Tunny” and Mattie Amelia (Williams) Huggins.

Along with her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husbands James Earl Johnson, Sr., and George Lewis; brothers David Allen, Robert, Cecil, George, and James Huggins; sisters Gloria Whitmore and Delores Olden; and granddaughter Erica Johnson.

Janice is survived by daughters Patricia Thompson and Rebecca (Russell) Jones; son James Earl Johnson, Jr.; grandchildren Des, Jan Thurman Morris, Jennifer Johnson, James Johnson, III, Shaft Johnson, Sr., Shawta Johnson, and John Johnson; 14 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren; as well as sister Joyce Carter. Janice was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Janice was a former member of Zion Baptist Church and worked for Hobart Brothers for many years. She worked at training racehorses and was a cook for Troy Head Start Preschool. Janice also worked at the Miami County Fair as a cleaning lady. She would do anything to help her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
