Joel Leon Welbaum, age 64 of Covington, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus. He was born November 25, 1956 in Springfield to Jackie and Audrey (Wilhelm) Welbaum.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jackie and Audrey Welbaum and brother Kelly Welbaum.
Those left to cherish Joel’s memory include his wife Vicky (Fraley) Welbaum of Covington; daughter Jessica Lauber of Piqua; and sister Wendy Adams (John Lusk) of Troy; as well as nephews Jackie Joe Welbaum, Lee Adams, Devin Adams, Jess Welbaum, and Chad Welbaum, and niece Ashlyn Adams.
Joel was a graduate of Miami East High School. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed shooting in his spare time. Joel also loved playing cards, gambling, and cruising around on his motorcycle. Joel was a member of many clubs around Troy including Troy Eagles #971, Redman Lodge 222 and Haymakers 222 ½, AmVets Post 88, and Troy Fish and Game. He was a machinist for many years at Bosma and Stillwater Technology in Troy.
A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Reverend David Ramming officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00PM-7:30PM Wednesday, April 28 with a Redman Lodge service at 7:30PM. Interment will be in Casstown Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome at the Redman’s Picnic Grounds following the interment. In lieu of flowers donations in Joel’s memory may be given to the OSU Wexner Medical Center Organ Transplant Center.
