Joseph “Joe” Roy Ferrier of Troy, Ohio passed away April 3, 2023, 94 years old at Friendship Village in Trotwood, Ohio. Joe was born on January 23, 1929, in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
Joe was a Chrysler Master Mechanic working for Freed Brothers in Conshohocken prior to moving to Troy, Ohio in 1971 where he worked for Hobart Corporation. He served as a deacon and was known as the “Candy Man” at First Baptist Church. Joe retired as a Guard for Hobart World Headquarters. In recent years both Joe and Lois attended Piqua First Baptist.
Joe was a proud Army Veteran of the Korean War and was an active member of the Ohio Korean War Veterans Association. He was well known for playing the role of Santa Claus in and around Troy, Ohio. In retirement years, he and his wife Lois loved to visit with friends at K’s, Lincoln Square, and Viva La Fiesta among others. Joe was a long-time member of P.A.C.K (Piqua Antique Car Klub). Most recently he lived at Friendship Village in Trotwood, Ohio and was cared for by VITAS Hospice.
Joe is preceded in death by wife Lois Evans Ferrier; his stepdaughter Beverly Lee Evans of Troy, Ohio; son Joseph R. Ferrier Jr. of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania; his parents Frederick Ferrier and Margaret Horn of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, sister Margaret Wooly, and brothers Fred and Ronald.
Joe is survived by his sister Audrey Burke, stepson Robert F. Evans, Jr. (Stacy), grandchildren Kate, Hank, and Robbie Evans of Valdosta, Georgia; and daughter Debbie Ferrier Kuhn (Scott), grandchildren Michelle, Justin, Lisa Kuhn Wilinsky (Kyle) and newborn son, Theo James of Quakertown, Pennsylvania.
Visitation shall be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 10AM with a memorial service held immediately thereafter at 11AM at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, 1124 W. Main Street, Troy, Ohio 45373 with Carlos Wood officiating. In lieu of plants/flowers donations can be made to Dayton’s VITAS Healthcare. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio.
