Lucille C. Sansam

Lucille C. Sansam, age 106 of Tipp City and formerly of Piqua, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Hospice of Miami County inpatient facility in Troy. She was born January 14, 1916 in Darke County, OH to the late Clarence and Margaret (Dunn) Walker.

She was preceded in death by her son John “Sonny” Raymond Supinger; her first husband John Supinger in 1949; her second husband Paul Sansam in 2002; and her siblings Frances, Ruth, Bob, Mary Helen, Dale, Buck, Joann, and Bill.

Those left to cherish Lucille’s memory include her son Rick Supinger (Janet) of Tipp City; daughter Shirley Norris (Mark) of Arcanum; as well as three grandchildren: Jason Supinger (Emily), Shelley Norris (Kris Keith), and Craig Norris; and four great-grandchildren: Sydney Supinger, Kaili Keith-Norris, Jazmin Keith-Norris, and Jonah Keith-Norris.

At 106, Lucille lived an illustrious life. She grew up on a farm in Miami County, right outside of Fletcher, and was raised to be a hard worker, a trait she carried throughout her life. She was the oldest of seven children and was closest to her sister, Frances, who preceded her in death in 2017 at age 100. Lucille’s key to longevity was to always “keep busy”. She retired from Orr Felt in Piqua after 30 years and maintained her work ethic well into her retirement, cleaning houses and doing odd jobs until the age of 93. A breast cancer survivor at 95, Lucille was determined to make it into the “century club”. She maintained her independence at the Randall Residence in Tipp City and later moved on to Vancrest of New Carlisle, attending church at First Baptist and exercising regularly. 

A celebration of life service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, November 12, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Tipp City. Interment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Miami County: 3230 N Co Rd 25A, Troy, OH 45373.  Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home.
