Marvin L. Avey

Marvin L. Avey, 93, of Troy, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at his home.  He was born January 21, 1929 in Troy, Ohio to the late Floyd and Goldie (Fleck) Avey.

He married Elizabeth E. (Rickey) Avey on October 23,1948 and she preceded him in death on July 3, 2005.  He was, also, preceded in death by seven brothers:  Harold, Floyd, Donald, Harry, Norman, Ralph and Charles and four sisters: Virginia Gearhardt, Faye Saum, Jean Favorite, and Joan Littlejohn. 

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Warner, of Troy, and Pam (Rob) Ondera, of Casstown.  He was a dedicated and loving grandfather of three granddaughters, Shelley (Sparky) Stoltz of Tipp City, Kim (Dan) Rupert of Troy and Jenny (Mark) Puthoff of Naples, Florida; and grandson, Scott (Mindy) Ondera of Casstown.  He was a loving great-grandfather of 13 great grandchildren.

Marvin was a US Army Veteran, serving his country while being stationed in Japan.  He worked and retired from the Troy Police Department in 1981, after 25 years of public service.  He ended his career with the Troy Police Department as Chief of Police.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Troy.

A Private Graveside Ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Contributions in Marvin’s honor may be made to Hospice of Miami County, 3230 N County Rd 25A, Troy Ohio 45373. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, OH.
