Michael Joseph Barry

Michael Joseph Barry, age 90 of Troy,  passed away 12:15AM Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born April 7, 1933 in Cork City, Ireland to the late Theodore “Teddy” Barry and Hannah (O’Mahony) Barry.

Michael was preceded in death by his brother Tom Barry and sisters Nula Garry and Marie Garry.

Those left to cherish Michael’s memory include his wife Margrit (Blättler) Barry, whom he married July 30, 1960; daughters Susan (Richard) Parsons of Troy, Michelle (Geoffrey) Cummings of Feeding Hills, MA, and Claire (Tammy Briggs) Barry of Christiansburg; grandchildren John (Monica) Donnelly of St Paris and Ashley Armstrong of Troy, as well as great-grandchildren Riley and Jayson; and extended family and friends.

Michael served in the British Army and was a retired machinist with Hamilton Standard in Connecticut. He was a member of the John Boyle O’Reilly Club in Springfield, MA. Michael enjoyed fishing and being in nature. He loved animals, especially horses and dogs. He raced greyhounds and was an avid fan of horse racing.

A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Monday, August 21, 2023 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Fr. Steven Shoup officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
