Obituary
Monte Kay Mumford, age 82 of Troy, passed away 12:05PM Monday, June 12, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. He was born June 20, 1940 in Troy to the late Cecil and Thelma (Siler) Mumford.
He married his beloved wife Janet F. (O’Dell) Mumford on June 6, 1980 and she preceded him in death on March 22, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his sister Georgia Colton.
Those left to cherish Monte’s memory include his nieces: Debbie Schultz of Troy, Jackie Call of Troy, Rebecca (John) Caplinger of Troy, Sandy Luke of Troy, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Monte was a US Air Force veteran, having served his country for four years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Troy and graduated from Troy High School. Monte was a member of the Troy Eagles #971, Troy AmVets Post 88, and Troy Fish & Game. In his younger years, Monte enjoyed golfing and bowling. Later in his life, he enjoyed socializing at the various clubs around town and loved going out to eat. Monte worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for many years before retiring and also worked in the accounting department at Hobart in Troy.
A graveside service will be held 11:00AM Friday, June 16, 2023 at Riverside Cemetery, Troy with Pastor Dale Christian officiating. Military honors by the Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard of Troy will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
