Paul Eugene Coon, age 78 of Troy, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Troy Care and Rehab. He was born August 3, 1944 in Dayton.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth M. Longstreath, Sr. and Dora Rita Coon. Others to precede Paul in death include his sister Rita McMannus and his niece/ caregiver/ favorite pest Doranna Angel Storms.
Those left to cherish Paul’s memory include his sisters Karen (Glen) Randolph of Troy, and Janet Dalton of Troy; brothers Danny Longstreath of Troy, Kenneth (Sylvia) Longstreath, Jr. of Grove City, and Allen (Patricia) Longstreath of Dayton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Paul won “Bowler of the Year” for his special needs bowling league in Columbus. He was involved with MRDD, Easter Seals, Goodwill, and Riverside in Troy. His favorite job was at Engine House #5 in Columbus. Paul was a passionate Elvis fan and his sisters even made the trip to Graceland with him for his 70th birthday. Paul would always say “Elvis is the King of Rock n’ Roll but he’s not better than the King of Kings”. Paul’s heart belonged with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He knew the Lord and was a member of the Lighthouse Apostolic Church in Dayton, and a member of the former Light Street Apostolic Church in Dayton. Paul loved to donate to the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Foundation for Jerry’s Kids.
A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00PM Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Paul’s brother, Rev. Kenneth Longstreath, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00AM-12:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Polk Grove Cemetery, Butler Township. Instead of sending flowers, please make donations in Paul’s name to a children’s charity of your choice, such as Shriner’s, AMC, St. Jude’s or Ronald McDonald House. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
