Ralph Jefferson "Jeff" Smith

Ralph Jefferson “Jeff” Smith, age 62 of Troy, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Kettering Medical Center, Kettering. He was born July 18, 1960 in Celina to the late Bill Refus Smith and Wilma Jean (Dotson) Smith.

Jeff was preceded in death by his brother Bil Refus Smith.

Those left to cherish Jeff’s memory include his children Jordan (Michael) Bowden of Grovetown, GA, Jake Smith of Troy, Maxx Smith of Troy, and Graym S.C. Cantrell of Euclid; siblings Teresa Smith of Piqua, Sherry Stapleton Smith of Piqua, Neil (Cheri) Smith of Piqua, Penny (Brian) Smith Roberts of Piqua, and Matt (Tabetha) Smith of Piqua; as well as grandchildren Ethan Zarek, James Clemons, and Cora Bowden.

Jeff had a passion for music, especially classic rock. He was an original artist who specialized in guitar. He was a performer at heart, his home was the stage. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Jeff was a natural caregiver, nurturing his children as well as children in his community, especially through his coaching. He coached little league and was an umpire for PYBSA in Piqua. He was considered one of the most sought-after umpires in the Miami Valley. He will be deeply missed by his community of friends and family.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
