Obituary
Roy Staten, Jr., age 78 of Troy, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Troy Care and Rehabilitation. He was born January 30, 1945 in Ackerville Hollow, WV to the late Roy Staten, Sr. and Frida (Bailey) Staten.
Roy was preceded in death by his son Roy “Jake” Staten, III on October 8, 2018, as well as his brother Jimmy Staten.
Roy’s memory will be cherished by his sons: Geno Lee Staten of Troy and Denver Jack Staten of Troy; daughter Jody Lynn Staten of Piqua; 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; as well as his brothers: Gene Staten of Piqua, Jerry Staten of Troy, Joe Staten of Dayton, and Kent Staten of Piqua, and his half-brother James Cook of Vandalia.
Roy lived his life to the fullest, and on his own terms, always lending a hand to a friend in need. He enjoyed building car motors, hot-rods, street and track cars, and drag racing. He held a Union Sprinkler Fitter Degree and had previously worked at Cargill in Sidney. He retired with Wescon in Bismark, ND.
A celebration of life will be held 5-8PM Saturday, August 12 at the Troy Fish and Game clubhouse, Troy. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
