Sage Bradley Denson, age 26 of Troy, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023 at his residence. He was born April 15, 1997 in Troy to Bradley Denson of Cincinnati and Nichol Mertz of Ft. Loramie.
Sage was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Stephanie Mertz.
Sage will be remembered by his parents Bradley Denson (Michele Musgrove), Nichol Mertz, and stepmother Jennifer Zahumensky of Troy; as well as sisters Saddie (Charles Bruce) Barker of Jacksonville, NC, Sydnie (Isacc) Jones of Jacksonville, NC, and Daisy Denson of Troy; his paternal grandparents Bernard “Bernie” Denson of Stanford, KY and Barbara “Barb” Wesco- Atkinson of Alcony; paternal great-grandparents Bill and Shirley Wesco of Alcony; maternal grandfather Robert Mertz of Troy; maternal grandmother Janina Mertz of Troy; maternal great-grandmother Shirley McElfresh of Troy; nieces and nephews Braxton, Saylor, and Charlotte; aunts and uncles Toni and Shawn Wells, Ben and Jolene Denson, Michel Mertz, and Traci (Scott) Mertz-Goubeaux.
Sage was a 2015 graduate of Troy High School. He was a creative soul and a gifted artist. He founded his own clothing line Saucy Sage and was also a freelance photographer. He enjoyed tarot card reading, frequenting music festivals, and loved listening to all kinds of music. His family and friends will remember Sage for his sense of humor and how he lit up a room when he walked in. He was also a dedicated advocate for the LGBTQ community. Sage was an animal lover and relished his time with his beloved dog Teddy until he passed away. Sage was known in the Dayton community as a bartender and was recently employed with Old Scratch Pizza in Dayton.
A Celebration of Sage’s life will be held 4:00PM Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Mr. Chris Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00PM-4:00PM at the funeral home.
