I apologize for being so late in posting this. I had Mrs. Thorton for 3rd grade at Kyle & so did my brother Carleton. She was a great teacher. We had a situation in our class where we weren't being very nice to a girl who was less fortunate than most of us. Your Mom read us a book pertaining to that when this girl was absent. When she finished reading, she closed the book & said "I think you all know what I mean." I never forgot that lesson & I'm 58 years old. What a great lady! My sympathy to all of your family.

Jeff and Jay and family

I just saw today of your mother passing late this afternoon. Because of this, I was unable to attend the viewing or the service. Sue and I want to express our sympathy to you and your family. It's a difficult time. I also wanted to mention how I always enjoyed talking with Jean when I was at my mom's house mowing or visiting. She was always in an upbeat mood. Jean and mom were good friends and had many visits. Take care and will be thinking about you and family. Bob and Sue

Mrs. Thornton was my third grade teacher. I'm 46 now but still have vivid, wonderful memories of her. I can still hear her deep voice and wonderful laugh. I remember so much from her class and her funny (always instructive) responses to our questions. Student: "Hey,.." Mrs. Thornton: "Hay is for horses." Student: " Can I ...?" Mrs. Thornton: "I don't know dear, can you?"
My prayers are with her family and the loss you must all be feeling. I was blessed by her as were many others. I'm thankful for her service to all of us and I know I'll see her again.
