Barbara Ann Mercer

Barbara Ann Mercer, age 90 of Troy, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at her home. She was born on December 6, 1930 in Troy to the late Vincent and Sue Jackson.

In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert E. Mercer, who passed away on May 19, 2016 and her infant son, Michael.

Those left to cherish Barbara’s memory include her sons Tom (Anne) Mercer; Tim (LaRayne) Mercer; Ted (Carla) Mercer, all of Troy; sister-in-law Mary Ellen (Roger) Sawyer of Denver, CO; grandchildren Ty (Jasma) Mercer of Troy, OH and their children Trayce, Nora; Jenny (Brian) Gallahue of Louisville, KY and their children Ava, Charlie; Megan (Jonathan) Pyatskowit of Shawano, WI and their children Jonathan, Elise, Seth, Mason; Emily (Ryan) Campbell of Dublin, OH and their children Caden, Harper; Troy (Mallory) Mercer of Troy, OH and their children Trenton, Thompson, Tessa.

Barbara graduated from Troy High School in 1948 and later went on to work for 25 years preparing and serving lunches to students at Troy High School, Hook and Heywood Elementary. She loved her life on Kirk Lane where she raised her family and made new friends in the neighborhood. She was known for her cooking and many nights friends would show up at the house to enjoy a homecooked meal. Barbara enjoyed Volksmarching with Merc throughout Ohio and several neighboring states and the many places they were able to travel with Troy Senior Citizens. She also loved the many years she spent volunteering at Upper Valley Medical Center.

A visitation will be held from 9 AM-11 AM on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Deacon Michael Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, OH 45373.
