James “Jimmy” Andrew Henderson died the evening of January 21, 2021. James Andrew Henderson was born to Clarence Bentley Henderson and Anna Niles (Sullivan) Henderson on March 8, 1927 in Lima, Ohio. James, better known as “Jimmy” was the first born of five children. The Henderson’s were faithful members of Fourth Street Baptist Church in Lima, Ohio. After turning 18, James enlisted in the Army Air Engineering Squadron/ Air Service Group, where he served in World War II while stationed in the Philippines.
After James’ honorable discharge from military service, he worked primarily as a truck driver and factory worker. He later met and married Ilo. Both James and Ilo had a love for children and animals. At one point in time, they were close to adopting a child, but the adoption fell through. After that, they adopted plenty of pets, mostly cats. Jimmy had a love for bowling and enjoyed touring the state with his bowling league. James worked at Applebee’s in Troy until his retirement. When he reached his golden years, James enjoyed visiting his siblings in Lima and Sandusky. Jimmy also appreciated the kindness that his healthcare assistants showed him over the years. He also toured Washington DC where they honored World War veterans.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife Ilo, parents, Clarence and Anna Henderson and siblings and in-laws, Joseph Henderson of Lima, Mable (Sylvester) Woodard of Chicago, IL, Clarence Carman, Jr. (in-law of Sandusky), and Magnolia (Clifford) Housley of Lima. He is survived by his sister Verenna (Clarence) Carman of Sandusky, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
