Mildred Lois Hawkins Yount

Mildred L. Hawkins Yount, age 92 of Troy, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018. She was born June 15, 1925 in Mildred, KS to the late Samuel and Lydia (Sayles) Prather.

Mildred is survived by her two sons: Robert D. Hawkins of Troy and Eddy D. (Rittia) Hawkins of Helsinki, Finland; daughter Nancy C. Bailey of Troy; step-daughter Karen (Mark) Shoettinger of Eaton; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Ruth Prather of Ottawa, KS.

She was preceded in death by two husbands: Robert H. Hawkins, who passed away January 1, 1972 and Frank Yount, Jr., who passed away January 3, 2002; as well as two brothers and one sister.

Mildred was a 1943 graduate of Roseville High School in Michigan and a 1976 graduate of the Miami Valley School of Nursing. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Troy. She was involved with Habitat for Humanity for many years and also with the Nurse Cadet Corp. during WWII. Mildred was first employed with Riverside Schools as a teacher before working with the Miami Valley Free Clinic where she helped with discharging patients. She retired with the former Stouder Memorial Hospital and MidWest Nursing, where she was a Registered Nurse.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Memorial contributions may be given to Miami Co. Health Clinic: 1300 N. Co. Rd. 25A, Troy, OH 45373 or Hospice of Miami Valley: 46 N. Detroit St. # B, Xenia, OH 45385. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
